For the animation lab, I am going to cover a broad but interesting topic all students in the class can relate too: the life of an artist. I believe there is a distinct and unique humor associated with being an artist. There are constant struggles to remain motivated, fear of failure, and the balance between authenticity and wanting to fit in. For the project I will go through my process of creation, in which there is a never ending cycle. Too many times, I find myself with no ideas about what to make next. I prefer painting, but I don't have the space or materials to paint what I want. When I finally have an idea, which is an arduous process, it becomes difficult to translate the idea to reality. Going through my storyboard, I am attempting to highlight the cyclical process of artists and their creative journey. I am going to begin with a character struggling to find their idea, then move into nature. Taking in various aspects of the characters surroundings, the subconscious begins developing the idea. I want to throw a wrench in the plan, and then move into the animated dream world. In this, I will go through various settings with characters planting new ideas. I believe my struggle will be implementing all of the scenes in a way I like. Making this short animation will be an example of the issues I am trying to highlight. META.
